Liturgical Ministries
- Altar Servers
- Contact: Deacon Jerry Showalter (304) 485-5745
Man or woman, young or not-so-young - you can be a server as long as
you're in the fourth grade - or older! You'll need to attend training
sessions for 2 evenings; these sessions are scheduled in the fall and
again in the spring. Once trained, youth usually assist at the weekend
Masses; adult servers are especially needed on weekdays, for funerals
and special Liturgies. Our parish is always interested in hearing from
those who'd like to be servers.

- Eucharistic Ministers
- Contact: Deacon John Maher (304) 428-1262
It's a wondrous privilege to be able to give the Body and Blood of Christ
to others! Eucharistic Ministers assist the priest in distributing Communion
during Mass, or bring this sacred blessing to those who are confined
to their homes or in nursing homes - and some do both. If you'd like
to become a Eucharistic Minister here at St. Margaret Mary, call the
Contact Person and request that your name be placed on the list of interested
parishioners. Once your request has been accepted, you'll be contacted
for required training sessions, which are scheduled when the parish
needs more ministers. As a Eucharist Minister, you receive a renewable
three-year commission.

- Lectors
- Contact: Beth McNally (304) 375-4299
Proclaiming the Word of God - that's the mission of the Lectors. The
First and Second Readings of the Mass are usually presented by lectors,
who also make the announcements. Training is offered periodically for
those interested, and lectors are then scheduled for weekend Masses.
Our parish is blessed with many lectors (more are always welcome!),
so you need not make a major time commitment, or give up weekend travel,
in order to be a lector.

- Liturgical Committee
- Contact: Stephanie Winland (304) 428-1807
This group has special responsibility for the liturgical life of the
parish. They meet several times a year to do overall planning for the
liturgical seasons (e.g. Advent, Lent) and organize special liturgies.
They also serve the parish by coordinating the educational training
and direction of other liturgical ministries.

- Sacristan Ministry
- Contact: Deacon John Maher (304) 428-1262
Before Mass - usually for weekend Masses - the sacristan makes sure
that everything the priest will need, is ready and in place - the chalice,
paten, and other vessels; the required cloths; the Lectionary (book
of readings); and the bread and wine for the Offertory. If you'd like
to become a sacristan, you'll be trained and assisted until you're comfortable
handling the job on your own. Then you'll serve on a rotating schedule,
and asked to call another sacristan if you'll be unavailable at your
scheduled time. Sacristan duties can be done by individuals, couples,
or families - here's a great way to be more involved with the Mass!
