Seven Essential Elements of Parish Life

Element
Thought
Challenge
Evangelization encompasses any way in which a parish continues to spread the Good News of Jesus, especially through personal and communal sharing of faith. Every aspect of parish life contributes to the unfolding of the Kingdom of God through witness to Gospel values.

WHEN GOD'S MESSAGE AND GOOD NEWS IS CLEARLY EVIDENT IN OUR LIVES
IF OTHERS SEE US LIVE OUR FAITH
THAT IS WHEN WE EVANGELIZE

MAKE EVERY DAY A PENTECOST.
WILL YOU LET THE SPIRIT USE YOU TODAY TO
SPREAD HIS WORD?

Worship itself is evangelization, a communal witness to the sovereignty of God, the abiding presence of Jesus Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit at work in the Church. Personal and communal prayer are important and worship gives expression to the faith of the community. WHEN THE WORD IS READ, WHEN PRAISE IS SUNG
WHEN SOULS ARE FED THEN WORSHIP HAS BEGUN
DEAR GOD, LET ME SEE THAT YOU ARE
PRESENT TO ME IN EVERY PART OF MY LIFE
SO I MAY PRAISE YOU AS YOU WALK WITH ME
Spiritual formation is the ongoing process of maturation and growth on the Christian journey. As individuals and as a community of faith, Christians are called to a deep relationship with Christ. Growing in that relationship, gaining insight into the nature of God, the Word of Christ the Son, the power of the Holy Spirit, and the revelation of God’s Word in the Church constitute this process WHEN GOD CALLS YOU THIS WEEK
BE NOT SHY, FEEL FREE AS A BIRD
JUST LISTEN TO HIM SPEAK AND THEN GO SPREAD THE WORD
DO MY ACTIONS SEEM TO INDICATE THAT I
FORGOT TO PRACTICE
WHAT HE MEANT ME TO PREACH?

Community draws parishioners together in mutual support, activity, celebration, and growth. It is the unity that results when members become involved with one another in all other elements of the pastoral mission GOD CALLS US TODAY TO PUT ASIDE STRIFE
TO MAKE COMMUNITY
PART OF OUR PARISH LIFE
A PARISH IS A COMMUNITY
WHERE EVERYONE BELONGS
IF IT IS NOT,
WE MUST HELP MAKE IT SO.
Jesus continually modeled and mandated Service to others as a primary requirement for discipleship. He demonstrated the degree to which we are to be of service to others in need, as well as to change the conditions that create those needs. The Scriptures remind us that faith without service is lifeless. WHEN THE LORD SAYS I NEED YOU
JUST RELAX BE NOT NERVOUS
HE WANTS OTHERS TO SEE HIS LOVE
THROUGH YOUR ACTS OF SERVICE
WHEN I AM CALLED WHAT IS MY ANSWER?
WHAT COULD OR SHOULD I DO? OR RATHER WHAT WILL I DO?
Stewardship can be defined simply as making the most responsible use of one’s gifts and resources. It necessitates the recognition of life as a gift, bestowed upon each person by God and responded to in a spirit of humility and gratitude. Sharing one’s time, talent and treasure is not an option for one who understands what membership in the Church involves. It is a serious duty. WHAT IS OUR CALL TO STEWARDSHIP?
JUDGE IT BY A SIMPLE MEASURE
THE EXTENT TO WHICH WE SHARE
OUR TIME, OUR TALENT, OUR TREASURE
IF TODAY YOU HEAR HIS WORD
MAY YOU KNOW
THE GREAT HOPE
TO WHICH GOD HAS CALLED YOU
Effective parish pastoral councils require a shared Leadership among clergy and laity which calls forth the gifts of visioning, planning, empowering, and evaluating. These gifts are placed at the service of the community for the fulfillment of the parish mission. The pastor and council do not work for or under one another, but rather with one another. Together they lead the parish in the ongoing discernment and realization of its mission. WHEN NEEDED GOD INVITES US TO USE
OUR GIFTS OF PLANNING AND VISION
TO USE SKILLS OF LEADERSHIP
TO FULFILL OUR PARISH MISSION
A LEADER IS ONE WHO CAN EFFECT POSITIVE CHANGE.
MUST YOU BE IN
CHARGE IN ORDER TO BE ONE?
